A 5 day festival of Italian cuisine, at the Bath Priory Hotel, will give visitors the chance to try gourmet food and wine from four different regions of Italy. The hotel, situated near the elegant spa town of Bath, has invited growers, wine experts and food producers - from Piedmont to Sicily - to talk and demonstrate throughout the week. The Festival will feature top wine producers, such as Bruno Giacosa from Piedmont, known to his peers as “The Maestro” and Marchesi de’ Frescobaldi – from the Frescobaldi family winery in Tuscany which has been running for thirty generations. Italian Michelin star chefs such as Fulvio Siccardi of Conti Roero Restaurant near Alba will be preparing gourmet dishes to complement the wines.
Guest speakers include acclaimed wine and food writers Nicolas Belfrage, Michèle Shah and Marques Anna Lanza Tasca.
Events will include:
a wine tasting with Nicolas Belfrage, author of Barolo to Valpolicella -The Wines of Northern Italy;
a 4-course gourmet dinner created and cooked by The Bath Priory’s, Michelin-starred Chris Horridge;
and a presentation by Marques Anna Lanza Tasca, of a Renaissance of Sicilian recipes, followed by a tasting of Sicilian wines from Tasca D’Almerita.
The Festival will culminate in a five-course Gala Dinner on 2nd February. To celebrate the week’s events, this menu will be created by some of the country’s leading Michelin-star chefs: Michael Caines MBE (Gidleigh Park Hotel), Gary Jones and Benoit Blin MCA (Le Manoir Aux Quat’ Saisons).
The Festival will be supporting Children’s Hospice South West, a local charity that cares for children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions. This is the only children’s hospice in the South West and supports over 200 children and their families. Every evening an auction will be held to raise funds for the hospice, with the main auction being held on the evening of Friday 2nd February.
